| MS Windows |
The key features of this beta test App package (S5R5 3.05 / ABP1 3.09) include:
- published 2009-10-06
- Improved, faster ABP1 (SSE) App built with gcc-4.4
- app_info.xml does contain entries for ABP1 3.07 thru 3.10 and S5R5 3.05, tasks assigned to older apps will error out
Installation instructions:
- You may want to set the E@H project to get "No new work" and finish the pending work first to
be on the safer side when switching platforms.
You may also want to manually abort the Tasks that have not yet been started to immediately start
running tasks with the new Application.
- Exit the BOINC client.
- Download the following file. On modern Windows systems it should open the archive automatically or after
double-clicking the downloaded file, on older versions you may need to explicitly expand it e.g. using WinZip.
- Locate the einstein project directory. If you installed everything with default settings, it should be
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu"
("C:\Program Files\BOINC\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu" on older BOINC, see
here if you couldn't find it)
Put the files from the zip archive into there.
- Start the BOINC client (again). "Allow more work" to the project if you had disabled that before.
In the message tab you should see a message saying "Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform".
Allow work for the project if you disbaled it previously.
- Keep a close eye on the results of the application.
If the application returns erroneous results, invalid results, or produces client errors, then
please rename or move the app_info.xml file in order to stop using the beta version of the application.
- Please report any problems you may have or success using this test version on
this thread.
We encourage beta testers to subscribe to this thread as new versions of the application will be
announced there.
