I learned that the 6.1.10 Client that is available for download doesn't yet incorporate the 'symbolic link' handling. This feature is available from 6.1.12 on, which isn't even out to the public yet.

I also found that 4.42 doesn't fix the problem with the new file handling as currently implemented in the BOINC API. I'm discussing with the BOINC developers where to fix this (in the Client, the BOINC API or the App code).

It might need another App release to get things working for the latest development clients.

Actually, there is now a v6.1.14 for MAC available for BETA download and public testing, but the release notes (posted yesterday) acknowledge this Einstein problem and confirm that it is ongoing.

Thanks for letting me know. The new 4.44 App is meant to fix this.

Update on that: The 4.44 didn't fix the problems with the development Clients versions 6.1.12 thru 6.1.14 and introduced some more with older Clients. The Clients 6.1.12 thru 6.1.14 have been withdrawn now, and the 4.42 seems to work fine with the Clients 6.1.15 and newer.

Clients 6.1.x; break CPDN and Sztaki ... the server does not recognize the new Mac Pro ID line ...

Just a caution for those thinking of going to 6.1.x ...

The projects were both notified, but, it is not clear to me that they are paying attention (Sztaki) or will be making any change until 6.1.x is ready for release ...

If you HAVE upgraded, CPDN will not take trickles and Sztaki will not give you work ... down-leveling seems to have no ill effects on work in progress ...

Hi!

I've been using this app. for some weeks now and it works flawlessly for me.

As this is one is about 10% faster than the stock MacOS/Intel app I'm a bit surprised it is not more widely used (see the top PC list).

Would be intersting to see how it performs on one of the top-10 8-way Mac Pro :-)

I need a little help in the battle for the #1 spot :). I'm going to let all my current tasks finish and then I'll give 4.42 a try. The competition is stiff now. I think I'm seeing a bit of a rise in my average run times with the frequencies in the > 1028 range and the sequence numbers I've received.

A couple of tasks have validated. The speed up is consistent with other postings here. :)

My apologies to the project for jumping the gun and not letting all my queued tasks finish before placing 4.42 in my project folder. It looks like I errored out on about 16 tasks after restarting.

Never mind those 16 tasks :-), the additional test data is more important. Looks like the speed up is around 15% for the fastest results. Not bad.

Funny how similar the top 10 host list looks compared to that of SETI@Home.

Some say a picture is worth a 1000 words. Click the image for a bigger view. It is a chart of my last 200 tasks run times. 15 is 15000 CPU seconds on the y-axis. The left-most points are the newest.
