Looking foreward to that...

Eagerly waiting,

Agreed. I've been running the client solid on 14 machines since it came out(Athlon, P4, Celeron), no problems.

For the Linux installation of

For the Linux installation of 0.06, suggest you add instruction `1a : run "UPDATE" on the project after the last workunit has finished` to try and force conclusion.
I didn't, and now have three results stuck in the "In Progress, Unknown, New" state, 7052469, 7026966, and 7105953.

Just tried 0.06 client on a PIII 500 MHz (Coppermine) running Mandrake 10.1 with 2.6.11-6 kernel. Previous WU under 4.80 completed in 58 hours, last WU under 0.06 completed in 38 hours, major improvement! Look forward to the new 4.81 linux client, hasn't propagated to any of my computers yet.

Long WU result on a P4,

Long WU result on a P4, 2.66GHz Northwood, 512KB Cache, 256 RAM...

Regular client ~ 10 hrs
0.06 client ~ 8.26 hrs

About 1.21 times faster, or in about 82% the time.

Cheers and happy crunchin'

SuSE Linux 9.1 on a Pentium

SuSE Linux 9.1 on a Pentium II (Deschutes) running at 400 MHz. After switching from client 4.80 to 0.06 my CPU time for a WU decreased from 80 h to 54 h. Maybe I shall be able to comply to the deadlines even if BOINC insists in sending me two WUs instead of one. Don't know if my CPU has SSE instructions. I am also running SETI at a lower priority but its deadlines are more comfortable.

Ok, the previous beta test

Ok, the previous beta test App 0.06 has been put up as the new official Linux App 4.81. It should be downloaded by the client automatically if it's not running the beta App. You may switch back to the mainstream now (remember that switching App versions errors all work assigned to the prior version - try to get "no new work" and finish the current work fist).
