The Sound of Silence is not

The Sound of Silence is not very quiet the way my youngest plays it at level 11.

Same son played "Mr Blue Sky" recently and is was stuck in my head for days.

Nice to see you around.

Your youngest is right, WK. That lends itself very well to loud I think :)  I like it! I was thinking more along the lines of the original original released on the planet a few years before I was but I'm glad I've hung about for that one to come along too ;)

Good tip. I ll try it. I've had one going round mine for several weeks now that is so awful I'm prepared to do anything to get rid of it. You don't want to know what it is. No one has. Those who do now know especially. It's why you're able to say stuff like this:

Nice to see you around.

;)

I've been looking into that sacred stump stuff. Is there a salad option? Oh. I've just remembered something. A gull nearly got run over today. It landed with great suspicion in the middle of the road so that it could approach some wrappings a driver had flung out of their window as they pelted past.

It must have been at least as surprised as I was. It's usually chicken and/or chips passing vehicles like to deposit a la carte for us to fight the birds for here in the east end, but it flew off heavily-laden with a mostly intact large battered fish.

Why did I say that? Oh yes. Kangaroos and air hostesses. *

I have made my reservations to come for the F1 race in 2019!!

YAY! Make sure you get there this time! :)

I have to admit to not having actually read this thread yet. I know :/ I'd half expected to land on the opening post when I clicked on it, but I didn't so I didn't, so I'm going to now...

* edit: I'm not sure quite... how... though...

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

If you say so ..... it will be done. Erm, how does BYO salad sound ? :-)

Ssssh ! Now everyone will want to.

Again, be careful, such queries may catch on.

I think this whole activity of quoting things back to people is quite subversive.

Let us know if the process was worth the effort.

I was going to kill this thread out of ennui, but then anti-ennui Annie* turned up. What now, eh ?

Cheers, Mike.

Let us know if the process

Let us know if the process was worth the effort.

Oh it was, definitely! :) Thank you for asking, and thank you too, to everyone who posted stuff. You've all made me want to comment a lot. The problem is in trying to work out where to start.

I'd thought helicopter parents but that morphed into a cauliflower story. So I tried asthma for awhile, and a view I've occasionally found myself pondering upon during the last few years whilst I've been trying to make sense of a why related to it... but it took me back to the worst family get together I've ever subjected my children to (to date) outstripping the one that had held that dubious record for about seven years before it.

I wrote of it at the time in an email to my twin. She'd been supposed to be there but at the last minute wasn't because she and her family had boarded a plane to Cape Town instead. I'd have gone even further if I'd known how the day would turn out, but that's beside the point.

That is - that my brain went off at a tangent and got me wondering what I'd lost (when the computer went bananas) that I might be able to retrieve from old emails... which is how I came to click x on the tab holding some opening light chatter about racing cars and wildlife, and poor Kathryn's exposure to snuffly germ-laden little ones, and Cas9, and more besides) when I was supposed to click a teensy bit more to the right, for a new tab instead.

:|

So I gave up completely (until  I came back). And now I've written this instead :)

One thing I can say though

edit: ...oh. Evidently not when muddling "post comment" with "preview" :/

I'm winning as my RAC

I'm winning as my RAC dwindles down, down, down as the computer that used to crunch here won't anymore and  one of the ones that could crunch here isn't. I may have to switch another pc over here, yes I have a few, so I can keep posting at least.

The Big Book of

The Big Book of Incontrovertible Facts likens perceived thread ennui and its potential for consequences to a:

"tall ship becalmed for a period of time and the captain succumbing too too thoroughly to raving madness."

*pause to look at Mike... tick a box*

"misreading the loss of wind (I'm presuming that's us lot)  as an absence of air entirely, and in order to avert asphyxiation all round - the captain scuttles their ship believing its passengers and crew will miraculously grow gills and appreciate the new life they've precipitously been dropped into. None actually do. An IPSOS MORI poll of those left clinging forlornly to planks of wood afterwards revealed they all regretted not having dropped in for a chat at some point beforehand."

Thread Winners' Paranoia they call it - which is significantly different to Mikey's delusion a little while ago that he'd won this one. I'm sorry to hear your RAC is  tumbling though, Mikey.  I'm able to report mine as picking up rather better here than it is everywhere else.

I hope everyone here and there and everywhere *whirl arms appropriately* are having a nice Tuesday/Wednesday or whatever day they think it is kind of day :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
