I am experiencing an high X process CPU usage on Fedora, by a lot of time. This is mostly related to GTK applications, expecially Firefox. I investigated, did some searches, posted on nvnews.com, etc.
What I have learnt about:
- nVidia has ever had some troubles with 2D, indeed many people of FOSS community blame me for using propertary drivers, but I cannot use FOSS drivers to enable CUDA;
- on nvnews people say "you lie, it's everything okay"
As you can see, it's impossible to understand anything. Then why am I here? Because I would like to investigate if other BOINC-Linux-nVidia users have my identical problem. I have a dubt about Einstein@home GPU activity even when BOINC is on suspension. Do you know if it can cause any load on the system?

It's hard to say; unfortunately a lot of modern webpages do so much work with javascript (even when sitting there) that it burns a lot of CPU.
The 'top' command helps show what is using time and memory (use 'h' for help).

Hmmm...strange that it shows X itself as taking the time. My linux computers normally only show X taking a very small percentage of CPU time (unless I'm doing stuff, like dragging windows around).
Have you got any animated desktop widgets running, transparent windows, or other 'fancy effects'?
If you want to check whether e@h is being suspended, look at the "top" output just when you suspend it; all the e@h tasks should disappear after a few seconds (and re-appear when you resume).

No, desktop effects are not active. The E@A workingunits are suspended, but I wonder if they affect in any kind of ways the X process
