I'm glad to have an opportunity to participate in a worthy endeavor like the Einstein@Home project and thank Ken Voght and Klausnh for bringing it to my attention. Ken Voght, with able assistance from Klausnh, has managed to cobble together a very impressive team from the Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board (BABB for short) if I say so myself, and at the time of this post we are a very respectable 36th in total credit. My advice to the 35 teams ahead of us is: "don't look back, someone is gaining on you!" The friendly competition aside, everyone involved in this endeavor is working toward the same goal and in that respect we are all on the same team and astronomy is the true beneficiary.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone here to check out the Bad Astronomy web site (badastronomy.com) put together by Dr. Phil Plait aka "The Bad Astronomer, an astronomer who has made it his goal to address common (and sometimes not so common) misconceptions relating to astronomy. The site contains reams of interesting information for even those with only a casual interest in astronomy, whether it's a question about our night sky or the Bad Astronomer's take on the science represented in today's popular sci-fi flicks like the Star Wars trilogy. Don't forgot to drop in and check where we hail from, the attached bulletin board - the BABB. Everyone is welcome and there's something to talk about for everyone, whether your thing is observational astronomy, stars and planets, space flight, the Apollo Moon-landing hoax scuttlebutt, pseudoscientific astronomical claims such as the "Face on Mars, current movies, or even light discussion of a non-astronomical nature. Hope to see you there.

I'd like to correct an error I made in the spelling of the name of our team's founder. I know he's a good sport but hate to reward his efforts by adding an extra letter to his last name. He's Ken Vogt. Sorry Ken.

Just as an FYI to all posters, if you make the occasional bonehead posting mistake like I just did , you only have 60 minutes to edit your post.

The BABB team has now expanded to LHC@Home and SETI@Home. We also have an orbit@home team ready for when the project goes online.
