What operating system are you running? If it is Windows (98SE or newer) it it's actually hard to remove OpenGL support from the system if you don't disable it explicitely. If the graphics card doesn't support in hardware, it should be emulated in software.
Can you see the graphics in a window (i.e. select the running Result in the BOINC Manager or 4.19 client and click "Show graphics" (right-click on the Result in 4.19))?

Do you have an ATI graphics card? If so, there are some problems with ATI equipped machines not showing the screensaver. It's a known problem.

The E@H screensaver graphics do require OpenGL.
