Ariane, you are already a member of a team! I think you should stay there! Or let me refrase this: Are you unhappy with the team you already have joined? If so, then I think you should sort this out with them before you change to an another team. ____________
| ID: 19157 | | |
Oh Fuzzy , it's not at all a question of happiness with my team, since august until now , i had not any contact with them . They are totaly invisible, and they never contacted me . I simply thought that Final Front Ear was a group free for everyone to join it , i understood so from your invitation. Now, what are the conditions of membership ? Is it not possible to join it without leaving my invisible teams ? I will try to see if i can contact them . thanks anyway Cheers ____________ Ariane
| ID: 19158 | | |
Ariane, joining a team is something one should consider carefully, so maybe you should have looked more around before you joined your team. And no, you can not be in more than one team at a time. Didn't Gary Roberts explain this to you??? He has explained so much to you so I thought he had told you this also. And hopping from one team to an another is something that might be frowned at! So I think you should contact your teamfounder if he/she hasn't done yet. I have a feeling that you will be sadly disappointed about The Final Front Ear. I have read your posts both here on the Einstein boards and on the Seti boards, and the impression I have got from you by these tells me, that you might want a certain intellectual level in a team. And I'm sorry to say, with the risc of offending my teammembers in The Final Front Ear, that intellect is not something we value so highly there. (Sorry, Front Ear'ians!!!) We are not so philosophical and intellectual about things there. But what about Gary Roberts' team, the Uptime Games Super Crunch team? They say: A team set up to recognise the contribution of Uptime Games, Brisbane, Australia, in providing spare CPU cycles to crunch for Einstein@Home. Any person in any country is welcome to join as we see ourselves as making a contribution to an international effort in Science for the advancement of human knowledge of the universe in general and the betterment of life on Earth in particular. and when I see this, I think that this is you! Simply you! Specially this part: as we see ourselves as making a contribution to an international effort in Science for the advancement of human knowledge of the universe in general and the betterment of life on Earth in particular. And you have this fine connection with Gary Roberts, so I'm sure he'll take good care of you there! But again, I think you should contact the team you already have joined and see if they are so bad. I'm sure they are fine people there also. ____________
| ID: 19159 | | |
... I simply thought that Final Front Ear was a group free for everyone to join it , i understood so from your invitation. ... And BTW, Ariane, this is a thread for all teams to introduce themselves, it's not a particular invitation from The Final Front Ear. And I saw a post after mine that a person invited you to join also, so I think you should consider what to do. But again, if I should give you a word of advise, give your team a chance, as hopping from team to team is frowned at. Selecting a team is not a question about this months flavour! ____________

Oh geez, you mean my IQ reading of 100 (and I thought that was per cent) does not rate me as having a high intellect? I can also talk some excellent philosophy, especially about all things wine. Like the best time to drink it (always), the best way to drink it (via the mouth), the best recepticle to drink it from (anything to get it to the mouth), the best temperature to drink it (any temperature that doesn't drive the alcohol off) and who to drink it with (preferably with some one who doesn't care if I drink it all). There are many other things to think about with wine, but I prefer to discuss those in person with a drinking buddy!
| ID: 19183 | | |
You're wellcome, Ariane! I see you are a member of different teams in your projects, the Einstein@UW-Madison team here at Einstein and the University of Michigan team at Seti. I don't know why you have joined different teams in each project, have you studied at both these universities? I read in one of your posts at Seti, that you plan to take your PhD at Berkeley. So which university are you assigned to at the moment??? Maybe you should join the team for this university and then concentrate on them, and you could even get in contact with the people there! My impression of you is that you definitely should be in a university team or a team with a humanistic purpose of some kind, such as I pointed out with Gary Roberts' team. Your saying about being fascinated by The Final Front Ear also tells me that you might have been under the influence of "the flavour of the month" feeling. Let me tell you that when I joined Seti, I crunched a half year, participated on the boards, had conversations with different people and got to know them, before I decided that The Final Front Ear was the right team for me! So joining a team by the impulse of the moment is not advisable. Many people have crunched for months and years before they finally join a team, and then it's because they find the team that suits them the best. And there you see! You said "I should add that my impression is that Final Front Ear is a very progressist team" made me think "Progressist? Progressist??? WTF is she talking about!?!?! Who's calling us "progressist"'s?!?!?", and I almost felt offended! I had to look it up! You see, using these fine words will only cause you trouble in The Final Front Ear, we don't know what they mean!!! Many people there would be miffed! But thanks for the congrats though! .oO( )But good luck with you team(s), as I said before, I'm sure they are fine people there and I'm sure Gary Roberts will help you to change, if you want to. ____________

Please take a look at the discussion in this thread.
| ID: 19195 | | |
But TGG, your IQ is 100 per cent at the moment!!! You know we all deposit our brains at the entrance of the mighty fine team and that we then get assigned the collected IQ for the team in turns, one month at the time! And you have our IQ this month!!! Did Keith forget to send you a mail about this??? Again!!! .oO(I have got the feeling that Keith is snatching all our IQ for himself, he depriving us for our share!!!) But how come our IQ always comes back in a reduced state after you have had it? I get the feeling that it's all the wine, you're drinking, that kills it! But, what the heck, as long as you had your fun with it, I hope though that you can taste the cheese for your wine after I have had it. I eat a lot of cheese, you know! Cheese and wine goes good together, and we, us, the Front Ear'ians know how to enjoy things! The small things in life, not the big questions such as "how long is a string?" or "do my chewing gum lose it's flavour on the bed post over night?", oh, my head spins just by thinking about these, but the really small, but extremely important things, such as the finer details of sheep, and other.... Do I ramble now?? Oops, it's because you have my IQ at the moment! Take good care of it and report to us what you have used it for! .oO(Not that I doubt it will taste of alcohol for the next in line!) But cheers! ![]() ![]() ____________

Oh dear Fuzzy , don't be offended by this word i used "progressist" , i hadn't such an intention , that was only a sort of compliment for your team, because i liked it , that's all. You're right i will remain in my teams, because what is done is done , well when i was about filling the forms for Seti and EAH, i acted just spontaneously , regarding my interest in all sort of universities. That was just a random. I act and i talk very spontaneously without any prejudice , regarding just my taste and my mood of the moment . For example today i contacted NASA and sent a message announcing my candidature for Moon exploration and prob as an astronaute , wishing landing on Moon by some sort of Apollo . Perhaps this sort of decisions and acts would seem silly , but i don't care because it was my very wish of the moment . I think i should become more rational , but i can't help myself , this is my nature . Anyway thank you for your reply . Cheers P.S. I liked also your emoticon , very funny ! ____________ Ariane
| ID: 19209 | | |
It's Ok, Ariane. I said I looked up the word so I was not offended when I saw it's meaning. And yes, impulsive actions can bring one in trouble some times, and sometimes we have to stick with our decisions. Ariane, you are such an intriguing character! So you want to become an astronaut? Tell us more, please?! But not in this thread as it's about teams, so start a new thread and tell us! ____________
| ID: 19214 | | |
OK Fuzzy , perhaps i'll start a new thread , but later , i'm afraid that people make fun of me for such a perspective "becoming an astronaut", perhaps a bit dillusionary and megalomaniac , anyway this is my dream . Cheers ____________ Ariane

Join The Final Front Ear, the team for 'special' people. Hi, Es99, I'm special, at least several people think so. They've suggested I take my sorry ass AND my computer and enter the Special Olympics. Is that where TFFE is coming from? Michael :-) ____________ microcraft "The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice" - MLK
| ID: 21457 | | |
Michael, I'm a little confused. What event in the Special Olympics would you need a computer for? From what I've seen TFFE is a team for all those people who you would be embarrassed to sit next to on the bus. However, once you get to know us you realise that we really are nice people, we're just a little different. ____________ Physics is for gurls!

Good, then I'm not the only one who's confused. lol From what I've seen TFFE is a team for all those people who you would be embarrassed to sit next to on the bus. However, once you get to know us you realise that we really are nice people, we're just a little different. Offbeat, but thoroughly enjoyable, from what I've seen. Great website, too, and I think that would have been the appropriate venue for the T-Shirt contest, except that it was really a very thinly-veiled recruitment spot, and probably should have been on this thread. Michael ____________ microcraft "The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice" - MLK
| ID: 21461 | | |
Michael, only a few TFFE members go to the website, so they wouldn't have known about the comp if it had only been there. Even if it was a thinly-veiled recruitment spot I'm not sure why it couldn't have it's own thread. Looking down the threads in cafe Einstein, it's not exactly pulsating with life over here (no offence) and there are loads of threads that don't belong in the cafe at all. I'm sure there are people here who've enjoyed reading about the progress of the competition and it would be a shame to spam up the recruiting thread with TFFE stuff. ____________ Physics is for gurls!

| ID: 21466 | | |
Who wears veils?Keith, Perhaps I should have not have termed it "thinly-veiled", but rather blatent, (not to be confused with flatulent), lol. No harm done, at any rate. Was that tongue-in-cheek a birth condition? Possibly major surgery could abate it somewhat, but I see no good reason to aggravate the medicos. Hey come on now there have to more than 10 people in the E@H microcosm that are 'affiliated with or having an affinity for the University of Michigan'. If we can fill up a 100,000 seat stadium every other weekend throughout the autumn we should be able to do better than that.

Hey come on now there have to more than 10 people in the E@H microcosm that are 'affiliated with or having an affinity for the University of Michigan'. If we can fill up a 300,000 seat stadium every other weekend throughout the autumn we should be able to do better than that. Mark, You sure that isn't a typo? I was at a few games there, in the late '70s, when capacity was 104K. I know they've stretched it recently, but even at that, I don't think they could pack 300K coconuts in there. :-) I originally hail from what is now Rochester Hills. Only 10 people on the team, though? C'mon, Maize and Blue, we used to get more participation than that for a pick-up game of Guts Frisbee in old A^2. ____________ microcraft "The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice" - MLK
