CPU 100%

Isn't that the point. ;)
You are donating your free cpu-time(when the cpu just sits and wait) to this project and calculate some science data.

Assuming to use a windows XP op. system, we can press ALT+CRTL+CANC to open the task manager.
In particular appears useful the “process section” because by it is possible to control the operatives status of all the programs loaded in the CPU and their CPU utilization factor.
Once a program is running it requires a lot of resources depending on the activities it has to make: in any case the sum of CPU utilization in 100% .
BONIC deals with problems that require large amount on "calculation power": for that it use in any case the CPU part equal to (100 - Ut), being Ut the sum of CPU required to the all other programs running at a certain moment.

A question could arise: we could notice a high temperature of CPU for the fact that such component in used at the maximum level during all time that we are elaborating packages for BONIC.

With ctrl-alt-delete bring up

With ctrl-alt-delete bring up window task manager
under process tab
locate image name
aolload.exe
Problem aolload.exe loads at 10 minutes after starting computer regardless if AOL is loaded or if I am on line. Aolload.exe takes over cpu time and runs at close to 100% all the time. The conflict is with BIONIC research programs and cuts BIONIC 1% to 10% of cpu time. The conflict is with all other programs on net causing display and loading problems - maybe even the AOL top speed loading problem.
Spiral_tcp_wnd_class appears to be locking up from a aolload.exe load and gives a pop up non-response program on closing system and shutting down. I reinstalled AOL9.0 security program and got same results. Can right click aolload.exe and select end process to remove aolload.exe from system and AOL software appears to work OK. This action also allows BIONIC program to run normally.
I googled spiral_tcp_wnd_class and found others were having problem with this data and pop-up on shutting down.

Ernest,

Do you feel much more secure, now that An Offal Load (offal may be considered as waste material that is thrown away - from the Wikipedia), has installed a ton of resourse-hoggng, mediocre software on your computer? Aolload is supposed to be running the AOL anti-spyware, which #1 hogs cycles and #2 is much less effective than standouts Spybot and AdAware, both of which are free and neither of which needs to run fulltime. AOL's AV is McAfee, never the best AV, but which since AOL bought them, is very lightly-regarded. Better choice - Free - AVG antivirus; Paid - NOD32, free trial, $40/1st year, $27.50/yr thereafter, best-in-the-business detection, hasn't missed a virus in 6 years in rigorous comparison testing, and which uses sublimely little system resources.

If you must use AOL for internet access, do so - they're about as good as anyone for that. Just uninstall the crapware bundledwith it, and what can't be uninstalled, use msconfig.exe, startup tab, to disable it running at boot, and Task Manager to catch and unload the myriad of other aol stuff that sneaks by.

Regards,

Michael

Or use Sysinternal Autoruns for all that and more. At least you can easily kill them this way and re-enable them if you do need them.

Thanks for the reply Michael.

Thanks for the reply Michael.
Since filing the report "aolload.exe" has been removed from my system; by parties unknown. The problem with the CPU from Aolload.exe locking up has stopped. AOL Spyware is running with no visible ill effects and impact on cpu, with all AOL software loaded is minimal. I use Ad-Ware SE, and MS Firewall along with AOL Security software. I used Zone Alarm but it has been blocked from installing/loading since the latest MS XP update 2/16/06. I have also used Avast AV and Fix It. I have been a victim of hacking, and ID theft;therefore security is a major issue for me!

I like your remark about the "arc of history" and it should hold true, but I am just waiting for MS to get "nukes"; or will it be Google?

Ernest, I'm happy to learn

Ernest,

I'm happy to learn that your problem has disappeared, by whatever mysterious means.
