Stacking Work Blocks

When I must leave home for awhile, I stack blocks of work and leave my computer running without access to the modem to maximize the work that can be done during my absence. Recently I have noticed that I am getting 2+ hour blocks instead of the usual 7+ hour blocks. Is there a way to select 7+ hour blocks? Or are there larger blocks that I can get. I am sometimes away for a few days at a time.

Stacking Work Blocks

Unfortunately no. Setting your general preferences (Connect to network about every) anywhere up to 10 days to cover however long your away for. Provided you have allotted enough space in memory, or indeed have enough. gl

That would work if I left my modem on, but I prefer not to leave my computer unattended while the modem is on. I appreciate the response. Great program and great service. I live close (Boise Idaho)to the LIGO. Are tours available?

Bill, you would not have to leave your modem on. Set your preferences to connect every (say) 10 days, and BOINC will download 10 days-worth of work. No connection necessary for the next 10 days. You need to give E@H enough disk space for that amount of work.

Problem is, if he was lucky and got only *short* WUs the daily quota will prevent downloading more than 64? results, which might be not enough for 10 days.

One solution is to attach to another project. Remember this was why BOINC was created in the first place.

It's a 32 WU limit. Good point. There is BOINC Studio, which allows you to spoof up to 8 processors, I believe. I can understand a new contributor not wanting to get into that. A backup project is a good idea anyway - I am currently crunching SIMAP until the validator problem is fixed.

Well, assuming I know any geography ( being DownUnder ), I think you're after the Hanford LIGO. Try here for information!
I'm jealous..... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

(edit) You could let us know if there is any tip-toe-ing required! :-)

(edit) Hey, there's an 'ad-hoc tour' tommorrow!

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

When you guys say "another project" or "backup project" are you talking about SETI or something like that?

Thanks
