How do I make the screensaver show the graphics? All mine shows is the BOINC logo and project information.

Screensaver

You could start by giving basic information such as:
- the BOINC version you use.
- the operating system you use.
- the video card you have.
- Details on DirectX version, and if all drivers have been updated.

BOINC Version: 5.10.28
OS: Windows Vista Premium
Video Card: nVidia GeForce GO 6100
DirectX Version: 10
I have also updated my video card to the latest version.

In this case the OS is the problem. BOINC 5.10 is not quite compatible with Vista. Yes, it runs on it without (many) problems, but in terms of these things being fixed we're waiting for BOINC 6.0, which will also have a new way of how it uses the graphics (running as a separate thread from the application).

On some people's PCs with Vista it works, on others with exactly the same hardware/OS, it doesn't. It's impossible to diagnose completely.

So for now, run without the screen saver. If you want to leave your PC running, turn off the monitor. If you want to see the graphics, use the "View graphics" option in BOINC Manager, that usually works.

No, I have no idea when BOINC 6.0 will be available. Somewhere in the new year as we're not even testing it yet.

One bit of help that I can

One bit of help that I can give you, on a completely separate bit of trouble you may run into. When it shuts down, Vista does not wait for programs and services to shut down gracefully. In BOINC's case this means that applications are terminated in the middle of what they are doing, thereby corrupting the work they are busy with.

If you don't want this to happen, either shut down BOINC before you shut down Vista, or reboot it. Or use this registry entry to slow down Vista's shutdown procedure.

Ok, thanks. It's a good thing

Ok, thanks. It's a good thing I let BOINC run all throughout the night instead of shutting down my computer.
