Over the coming weekend there will be interruptions of the network services at UWM which will affect Einstein@Home. We'll shut down the daemons at AEI (affecting validation of BRP and FGRP applications), but try to keep uploads, downloads and the scheduler running and accessible as much as possible. More details will be posted in the comments section to this news item.

      From the official UWM announcement:

"There are three (3) windows during which services may be interrupted.
All times are CDT (Milwaukee time):

      1. Friday August 10, 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM
      2. Saturday August 11, 6:00 PM - 02:00 AM
      3. Sunday August 12, 12:00 PM - 03:00 PM

The UWM campus data center will be significantly re-configured
during these two outages and there will be DNS outages during those windows."

It might well be that due to the DNS outages Einstein@Home may be unavailable for longer times than the announced ones from your area / provider.

What does time say me Milwaukee? Nothing. Sir, it certainly makes no circumstances the time please in the common UTC to format to brag.
          Thanks

I think Milwaukee is at about UTC minus 06.00 ??? So add six hours to Bernd's numbers to get to Greenwich then another one to get to Germany :

            1. Saturday August 11, 01:00 AM - 07:00 AM
            2. Sunday August 12, 01:00 AM - 09:00 AM
            3. Sunday August 12, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

            Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) Milwaukee is UTC - 6 standard, and UTC -5 with daylight saving. They're probably in daylight saving now, northern summer, so that makes Germany :

            1. Saturday August 11, 00:00 AM - 06:00 AM
            2. Sunday August 12, 00:00 AM - 08:00 AM
            3. Sunday August 12, 6:00 PM - 09:00 PM

( edit ) Unless of course you are in 'Summer Time' also, in which case take my first guess :-)

Mike's correct about the daylight savings time; right now North-American CDT is at UTC minus 5 hours. On November 4th we'll "Fall" back to UTC minus 6 hours.

It's +7 for Germany since we're also in DST. Here's a reference for all major cities:

UWM has rescheduled their network maintenance, it looks like the window that would affect Einstein@Home would be only one:

"The scheduled network outage windows below have been superseded by a
                    single window.

The scheduled network outage window is now

6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 until noon on Sunday, Aug. 12 (Milwaukee times)"

which should be Sunday midnight (0:00) to 18:00 UTC.

But as usual be prepared for the unexpected.

Oh, and of course workunit generation for these applications, too. So as we ran out of the already generated tasks, no new BRP4 tasks until tomorrow.

The scheduled downtime is completed and all UWM services should be up and running again. We'll restart work unit production (BRP) tomorrow morning.

From now on, the outage seems to be over.
Validating the BRP4 tasks is ongoing and WU production is running.

Indeed. All is up and running again. BRP4 work is already available again, the validators (assimilator and file deleter, too) will need some time to crunch through the backlogs, but they're doing well. Should be back on schedule by tomorrow morning.
