My name is Adan Vasconcelos and I work for an Electronics company in South Florida. Me and a friend recently created a corporation called Intricate Systems, Inc. We'll be eventually doing all kind of Electronics related work. Including Home Automation, Systems Integration, Control, A/V, Computer Networks, and all that kind of fun stuff.
I just came from Cuba (Havana) 2 years ago, and I was studying the 2nd year of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in the Politechnical Superior Institute "Jose Antonio Echevarria", ISPJAE. At that time I used to work as a Network Administrator and Software Developer for a government enterprise called MedSol, which makes all kinds of pills.
I'm a fan of physics, and particularly a lover of astronomy. I used to be part of an Amateurs Astronomy Group in Havana called "Cosmos".
I've been donating part of my computer power to the SETI@Home, and most recently Einstein@Home since I was in Cuba (2003).
I'd like to be more involved in this, but I understand that I'd need more knowledge than I have; and more time too.
Right now I'm studying in Miami Dade College, and I'm planning in getting my Mayor in about 4 years (I just started) in Electrical Engineering (as is the closer one to Electronics and Telecommunications).
I'm 27 years old. Most of my family still in Cuba, including my parents, brother and girlfriend. Hopefully they all will be with me soon.
Einstein@Home is one of those things that makes one want to know more and more. Unfortunately, I think there's not enough information about what kind of data we are processing and wich results we're getting.
That would help the project to grow even more. For instance, once I told a friend who have several computers on his house, to dedicate part of his free computing time to a project like Seti@Home or Einstein@Home. He's a very practical person, and of course asked me: what will I win? (in terms of knowledge of course), and I didn't know what to tell him, other than help the science...
I think, as more and more people are getting involved with this, we deserve a little bit more of info.
