I'm the resident antique at thespaceport.us. I've long been interested in Astronomy, probably from the first time I played the old "Wish upon a star" game as a youngster. My kids and I used to lay outside on the picnic tables and benches watching the sky and talking about all sorts of things we dreamed about. I've never formally studied Astronomy but I've gone to several of the local club outdoor sky viewings and I've seen Meteor Crater in Arizona. When some of the Spaceport gang started this team I wanted to be part of it. I had a bit of computer trouble at first, but this computer seems to be working just fine. It's great to be a part of a scientific project and hopefully add to information we have about our universe!
1. I run Einstein@Home because it is a way for me to be contributing to science.
I've got to admit that the competitive spirit makes it fun.
2. & 3. Not everyone who participates is as computer savy as others. If there were more assistance on how to set up your Computer summary information I think it would help. I got through it, but was never sure I had set it up properly until I checked with others. In the interest of getting the most out of each of the participants I think clarification here would be helpful to us non-nerds.
(Example:)Explaining average settings might help. I know this is a very individual thing, but tweaking here and there if you know whats going on might speed us all up a bit.(Afterthought) I found the "booklet" that has a lot of information in it. Probably should have looked around a bit first before trying to do this on my own. :)
