Profile: Drummergrrl

Your personal background.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I spent most of my life in New York City and New Jersey. I've always been interested in science, music, art, and politics. I focused on paleontology and sedimentology at the University of Rochester, hoping to use that foundation for a career in exobiology. Life happens and instead, my geological training brought me into the world of hazardous waste remediation (e.g., cleaning up contaminated ground water, sediments, and land). Music is another major component of my life and so, my other career is as a drummer. If you'd like to hear a sample, you can check out these web sites:

I finally fell in love and got married and to make it happen, transplanted myself to Chicago. There are only a thousand things to do in Chicago on any given night, compared to NYC's million - but, since I can do only one thing at a time, Chicago suits me just fine. It is a little bit colder, but, the cost of living is so much better.

To me, music and physics are two sides of the same coin - vibrations - and its what makes life - its the foundation. I love the idea of string theory - I hope the Brian Greene's and Michio Kaku's can solve it. I believe the answer lies in dark matter and dark energy - when we find out what the "dark" is, then, perhaps we can get to unifying foundation of it all. Of course, what we call gravity has something to do with that "dark" stuff. At least, I think so.

I've always loved physics, in addition to geology. Physics is the foundation of everything. To understand physics is to understand the nature of reality. One of my favorite books is "The Tao of Physics."
