Profile: Robert Hurst Sr.

Your personal background.
I'm 53 years of age. I'm retired and live with my Dog Charlie in Holton KS. I'm a Father of two and a Grandfather of four with one on the way. I served in the Marine Corps during the Viet Nam era and consider my self to be an inactive marine as there are no former Marines in existence.

I am, though, a former Police Officer who after four years realized I didn't have the temperament to continue. After that I drove truck 48 states and Canada until I was Injure while delivering a load when the Forklift Driver caused 450 pounds to drop on my head. After numerous surgeries, I went back to College where I majored in Accounting and Business Management. I retired as a Senior Services Analyst with a nationwide Waste Management Co.

I consider myself to be an old school Computer Geek from the late '70's, and '80's when MS-Dos ruled the world and you could do just about anything if you knew how to program. My very first PC (LOL) back in '79, was a Timex Sinclare 1000.

Now I spend my time with the Grand Kids, fishing or playing on my computers while watching some space type sifi's, or the occasional episode of Lost In Space.
Your opinions about Einstein@Home
I run Einstein@home because it gives me a sense of contributing to something bigger than myself. I've been exposed to numerous scientific ideas from such show as Startrek,
SG1/Atlantis, School of course, and so I'm interested in these types of projects.

I also run SETI@home for the same reasons plus, as a Born Again Christian, I believe it is biblical to think there are others, created by God, out there.

I run Milkyway@home also.
