Profile: Stan Pope

Your personal background.
I'm a retired Information Technology professional, so my Bride must endure the PC's scattered in small clutches about the house.

My interests are largely science and technology, which means that much of my "mad money" goes into my machine shop and electronics parts.

50+ years in Ham Radio ... Licensed as K9MFI since 1958 with special interest in weak signal high frequency work.

25+ years as Boy Scout volunteer, with special interest in Pinewood Derby racecar building and race management, plus teaching others.

Astronomy, especially near-Earth asteroid search with discoveries 2004 YD5 (a small one that came really close) and 2005 ME5.

I also do a bit of writing as in the sample at http://www.stanpope.net/millie.html which tells the story of an "original SETI@home" participant.

Your opinions about Einstein@Home
Demonstrating the correctness of a theory is valuable and beautiful. Demonstrating the shortcomings of a theory is the impetus for further advancement of the theory. It is a win-win situation! How could I not participate?
