I was out for a pleasant aeon\\'s scoot round this arm of the Galaxy in the yacht with the family, with no supernovae forecast for the remainder of the millenium when I suddenly found myself being thrown all over the place like a sneaker in a drier on \\'high\\'.
When I got the family calmed down and the baby stopped screeching, it didn\\'t take long to find out that something had screwed up the AGDPMs ( Anti-grav Doppler pulse modulators), and whatever it was was coming from this tiny blue-green planet in this system out lost in the boonies just a little ways over to our quasi-down side. Well, it didn\\'t take long to find out it was your bloody interferometers that had thrown us the wobbler, so we had to set down to do repairs, and wait for this ruddy experiment to get over and done with so we can get away safely. I\\'ve logged on, therefore, to do what I can to speed things up, and to keep a weather eye on how things are going! Here\\'s wishing you all the best and a speedy and satisfactory conclusion to your efforts. Oh, and if you want the guys at SETI to save themselves a whole lot of effort, do tell them to send me an E-Mail, please. It would save them all this messing around with Arecibo. And one last thing, I see that your interferometers are several kilometers in length: I seem to remember from my prehistoric history classes that ours once used to be the same, for some mathematical reason, but I was never any good at math, and could never work out the last prime number in my head unless I was really drunk, but if youse guys ever want to borrow my pocket interferometer, just let me know! it's a lot more accurate than yours, but I wouldn't think that should pose too great a problem, you could always just chop off a couple of thousand decimal places here and there, and that would give you the level of accuracy you seem to like. |
