| Your personal background. |
Hi, I'm Victor. I'm a 35 year old male living in Jacksonville, Alabama. My job right now consists of helping to take care of my elderly father who is fighting liver cancer. Right now the tumors are shrinking so we're pretty happy about that.
My hobbies include magic (card tricks, coin tricks, math tricks, etc.), programming computers, reading, and writing science fiction. I hold a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and I am currently applying to a graduate program in astronomy through an on-line extension offered by an Australian university.
I enjoy star gazing, reading about science and the history of science, and thinking about the universe. |
| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
I'm participating in Einstein@Home because I want so very much to help verify Einstein's work. The General Theory of Relativity was probably one of the most profound insights into the workings of the universe ever. One can not help but feel a deep connection and admiration for Einstein when one delves into his life and work. Participating in this project allows me to show my appreciation for the man himself, his work, and his legacy.
While I'm cautious about the accuracy of the technology involved to look for gravity waves, I remain optimistic. We may need to put one of these interferometers in deep space, far from the Earth, Sun, and other planets to really be certain about this experiment. Still, we make do with what we're given and hope for the best.
