Profile: Roger

Your personal background.

Hello,

having dropped out of my Ph D program doesn't mean I still don't have a great love for anything that smacks of physics, and while I was more into high energy particly physics and never really got around to getting a good grounding in general relativity, this project jumped right out, took a stranglehold of me and snarled "calculate, golldarnit, calculate".

And you know what? The beauty of the whole thing is that I (or you, for that matter) don't have to do the actual calculations myself, which has always been a bit less alluring than doing other things.

Peeking a couple of paragraphs up on the page I'm watching, I see that I'm asked for my age, occupation and hobbies. Well, I have those: 39, translator, and gardening (and assorted other stuff, like my one-year-old lovely daughter). If you have a textbook that you want to have translated into Swedish and are willing to pay me at least plainly if not handsomely, get in touch (yes, especially if you written "Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell". You know who you are).

Your opinions about Einstein@Home

Ah. I see. This is where this goes. OK.

Well, I run Einstein@Home because I love physics, and it's a damn easy way to be flirtatious with the subject. It's also a lovely idea, all these X@Home projects.
