| Your personal background. |
I got involved with the SETI@home project back in the year 2000. It was just a few hours since I saw "Contact" and I thought "cool, I want somehow to help this SETI thing". I got online, chatted with a couple of friends and then one of them told about "some sort of SETI project, something related to computing stuff". That's what I typed into the search machine and there it was, SETI@home project. I downloaded the client and devoted all spare CPU cycles to that until 28. March 2006.
I've been interested in all these kind of things since I was a little boy, I mean, I always liked all those "space thingies" and later on, I saw some nice sci-fi movies... since that day I was blasted away by all those different theories, ideas and principles. A bit later I got my hands on some Sci-fi literature, like Dune novels, Contact, Space and after that came the TV-series. The first major Sci-fi show was Babylon 5. It was something spectacular when it aired back in the 20th century here in Finland, all those characters, spaceships etc. were awesome.
And finally some background info, I'm student (no big surprise there) and... well, that's about it. Now that I've prowled around this globe for the past 21 years I'm still waiting for some... humongous thing to happen. Like, a real SETI contact or something along those lines. Overall, I pretty much like it here. Our world is one interesting place and with vivid imaginations of other people it just gets more interesting every passing day.

| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
Since I like almost everything "space related stuff", this one caught my eye when I was browsing the BOINC homepage. I read all that information that was given on the official site of Einstein@Home and decided to give it a try. It is a nice project to have, SETI was kinda lonely for the past few years, and now that it has a new friend under the "Work" tab, they will both get along just fine. Figuratively speaking.
Pulsars. I read about them. They are interesting and if I can somehow help to find one... well... that's about it. Jumpgate activated. I hope that this project will be running for many years to come, because we as a humanity, we need someday to travel out there, and if we're planning to do that, we need all the information we can get to make that happen. That's my point of view. |
