| Your personal background. |
I have been programming since 1961. I was a student assistant at Dartmouth College from 1963 to 1967, where helped develop several versions of the Dartmouth Time-Sharing System. Although my primary responsibility was the communications front end, I also made several contributions to the Basic programming language. I graduated with a degree in mathematics.
I was a founder of The Cyphernetics Corporation in 1969. My major contribution was again the front-end communications network. I left in 1976, a year after Cyphernetics was bought out by Automatic Data Processing (ADP).
I have worked in a number of different industries over the years, but I seem to have found a home in the machine tool industry. I designed and implemented gauging and size-control systems for 13 years at Samsomatic, Ltd.
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer at Balance Technology Inc. We produce machines that balance rotating components for a variety of industries. We also produce dimensionsional gauging systems.
I play tuba in the Ann Arbor Concert Band. I am a long-time season ticket holder with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. For summer recreation, I attend demolition derbies, figure-eight races and tractor pulls.
My wife and I have two children and one grandchild. |
| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
| I have always been interested in science. This is perhaps the third or fourth distributed computing effort that has come to my attention, but it is the first one that has actually motivated me to get involved. I'd really like to know if Einstein was right. |
