I am 49 years old, recently retired. I write fiction - for fun - and (up to the present) have nothing published. I am a novice astronomer and science enthusiast who fervently believes that we are, while quite probably not alone, certainly so far from any other living beings that our current capacity for space travel is - at best - equivalent to a stone-age understanding of how a combustion engine might work, should we 'happen' upon one.
