Your personal background.
I live in Toronto, Ontario. For those who don't know where Ontario is, it's in Canada, eh? Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Anyway, I'm running primarily Einstein@Home, but I'm also running SETI@Home. I'm hoping to become one of the top users in Einstein@Home, and I'm rising up. As of Nov. 9, I'm #2,080 for RAC. My Total Credit isn't very high because I just started in May 2006, so I haven't got a chance to build up massive amounts of points yet, but I'll get there.
I am also an aspiring software programmer. I am currently only programming for Mac, but I hope to expand into Windows at some point. I only have one program out now, but I will add more in the future. Also, I have a Dashboard widget there that you can use to check your BOINC stats, much like the SetiStats widget. Actually, it's just an edited version that checks whatever project you want instead of SETI, but it works fine. Download both at my website, here. I would appreciate it if you could also spread word around about my programs if you like them, as I'm trying to get it public, but CNET hasn't published it yet.
I think this is enough about me, so I'll say one last thing before I end: go Einstein@Home!
Your opinions about Einstein@Home
I love the Einstein@Home project. I believe that we should be finding out more about known things in our universe rather than searching for superficial beings that probably don't exist in the first place, like the SETI@Home project believes. Yes, it's true I do run SETI@Home, but it's only on one of my computers and because it's the first BOINC project I participated in. I may eventually phase out SETI on my computers, but not for a while.
The only suggestion I have for Einstein@Home is to try and keep their servers up as much as possible. We've had two outages in the last week, and my computer has only been kept going by the fact that I download 4 days worth of workunits at a time. Other than that, keep up the excellent work!
