Profile: Rohan Hughes

Your personal background.
It is always hard to convey onself in words.

I am 23, and still growing and learning about the world. I hope that I never stop in this course. My present studies involve physics and maths, however I intend to focus on chemistry, it's applications in microbiology and industry applications for microbes for various synthesising purposes. I think there is much to learn from humans who have a strong bond with their planet and feel as though a custodial responsibility is bestowed upon us as the 'most-advanced' species on the planet. I also believe it is a terrible pity that many people prefer superficial understanding or ignorance to proper learning and truth.

I just want to lead a good life, help a many people as I can and ideally change the world for a better place. These are my main goals in life. That and to grow and learn from wherever I can. Who could honestly say they would deny a free education?

Education is freedom, and freedom is choice. Having choice does not necessarily mean one is free. Think about this deeply and consider your place in the world, how can you ensure educated choice and thus freedom can be passed on to our descendants?

It was just a thought at any rate.

I like rock-climbing, mountainbiking and love capoeira.

I believe that we should have a 'religion' founded on doubt such that the scientific method becomes human nature and so that everyone can interract with equality, clarity and compassion. I do not believe our free society holds much hope for a future unless the above is realised.

critique welcome.

-Axé and peace.

(crazy guy in pic holding ex-girlfriend / friend / future biomedical engineer would be me)
