Profile: Gereon Stein

Your personal background.
I am from Germany, more exactly from the industrial region of the "Ruhrgebiet" where I live with my wife and two children. My day's job is with the German branch of an international communications company, but I also run a small consulting business of my own. In my spare time I enjoy playing the saxophone (obviously), playing with the kids, listening to (mostly Jazz) music, reading and watching the occasional good movie. I am also active on a couple of communities on the net, which is partially what brought me here.
Your opinions about Einstein@Home
I was not that much aware of the E@H project when a friend and user of one of my forums brought this up to me as a "change in focus" of the distributed computing projects that we were teaming for. Digging into the ideas behind E@H I found it reasonable to move over a significant amount of my spare CPU time to this project. I hope it'll do some good someday.

Generally, distributed computing IMHO is one of the best ideas since sliced bread :-)
