| Your personal background. |
Hi everyone, I am a 62 year (1944-11-04) old retired manager IT and financial services, enjoying immensely my free time, now without having any obligations. That's one of the reasons why I joined this and other BOINC projects.
My background is a beta education (HBS-B) and Electrotechnic study (HTS-E). I have worked for companies as Digital Equipment Corporation, Intergraph and during the last 10 years of my career, Achmea.
Currently I am studying Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands.
Hobbies are skiing, sailing (lakes and ocean), puzzling (mid-benders), long distance running, reading and again, studying.
One of my famous quotes by others is the following by Kenneth Olsen, President / Owner of Digital Equipment Corporation, done around 1970:
"I see no reason why anyone would want a computer in their home".
I frase this quote without disrespect; it just shows that even the great men of computer engineering history can make mistakes as far as vision is concerned. Therefore we should never be surprised of what the future can and might bring. (Almost) nothing is impossible. |
| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
1)-Why do I run Einstein@home?
Well, as you can see from my educational background, I am technically and scientifically oriented and interested in almost anything that has to do with trying to discover new things. Also gathering bits and pieces of information and then trying to make them fit together and make sense of it.
Above all, most of the time my, and I guess anybody elses, PC is idling in high speed, waiting for me to type or click something. So, be my guest, use it as long it's done neatly without abuse.
2)-What are your views about the project?
Hard to say, I haven't seen any real results yet. The goal as I understand it appeals to me since I started recently (last year) studying Physics and Astronomy @ Utrecht
3)-Any suggestions?
Yes, some direct feedback on result content |
