Profile: Brandan

Your personal background.
I'm a college student majoring in philosophy with a kid, a girlfriend, an apartment, and a computer that doesn't see as much active interest as it used to.

Your opinions about Einstein@Home
1. Why do you run Einstein@Home?

I'm a pretty busy person, but I leave my PC running at all times. It seemed sort of wasteful to have it on with little to no activity, so I figured I'd dedicate some of the free time (and as it turns out most of the time I'm on it) to an almost noble cause. I prefer quantum mechanics to alien life, though I don't know much about either, so Einstein@Home seemed to be the obvious choice.

2. What are your views about the project?

It's a great idea, in general. I'm not quite sure why distributed processing has only been around half a decade considering how simple the premise actually is, but I love it.

3. Any suggestions?

The credit system seems sort of underworked, and the user profile/settings type pages are obscure and not very navigation friendly. Pending credit should be shown right next to earned credit. Team members don't seem to be displayed, and I'm guessing that is because they're not yet active, but that makes no sense whatsoever.
