Profile: JD

Your personal background.
I'm an undergraduate at the University of Idaho majoring in Physics, English, and Mathematics. I find theoretical physics, especially quantum mechanics, very fascinating. I've done a lot of research on the period from 1900 to 1945 when quantum mechanics was first invented and applied to trigger fission in U235/238 and Plutonium. The exploration of physics can yield vast amounts of power, power to create and power to destroy. Physicists lead the way in the scientific world, and I hope to join their ranks someday. I may not quite have a mind as poweruful as Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, or Nikola Tesla, but I'm working on it! What more noble a work is there than exploring our natural world?
Your opinions about Einstein@Home
I was reading a book on optics and came across a small section on the LIGO. Intrigued, I sought more information about it on the internet and discovered Einstein@Home. I can only imagine the implications and applications a project such as this could possibly yield, and I am glad that I can play a part in it, if only a small one (at least for now).
