| Your personal background. |
I'm a middle-aged, overweight, scruffy self-unemployed computer consultant. I probably have some good points, but where's the fun in that? :-)
I've been into technical hobbies most of my life (I discovered which end of a soldering-iron gets hot at about the age of 8, and I have the scars to prove it...) since then I've been doing electronics, photography, woodwork, computing, flying, amateur radio, and I'm a general gadget-hound - if there's a widgety way do achieve something, that's the way for me! I've also trained in Shiazu and Reiki, although I have had pretty-much no call to use them since.
I'm fond of wildlife-spotting and have been known to go out to listen to the Dawn Chorus at a time that all sane people were fast asleep! I particularly like watching birds, bats, deer and foxes - although the latter tend to be random, accidental sightings.
I live alone in Hertfordshire, England, in a house I bought in the early 1980's, and which I have filled with jun.... errr.... valuable and exciting gadgets, electrical equipment, and miscellaneous Stuff. My girlfriend lives in New York (we met online) and she shares most of my interests, although she's rather a lot less fond of gadgets than I am! We plan to move in together, when we have sorted out the logistics of that, and when I've found (or built!) a house big enough for both of us... Well done for reading all my ramblings - have fun and be happy!
- Howard

| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
When SETI had an extended downtime (disk controller failure) I looked at the other BOINC projects, and decided Einstein was probably the one I wanted to do most, so I joined. I now find that Cafe Einstein is crowded with strange, interesting-sounding people, so I'm glad I did! :-)
