Profile: Maurizio

Your personal background.
I'm from Italy, born in 1959 and owner of a firm that works in software development, electronic design and robotics.
I like space science, physics and related subjects.
I play piano and keyboards. My favourite genres are metal, classical and hard rock.
I love reading books, especially sci-fi novels. My favourite author is Asimov, but I also love Philip K. Dick, Clifford D. Simak and others from the Golden Age of science-fiction.
Of course, I am a Star Trek fan.
Your opinions about Einstein@Home
Until now I've been running only Rosetta@home, but sometimes that project goes down and my machine is left with nothing to crunch. Because I prefer that the great power of a Pentium 3GHz HyperThreading CPU would not be left dormant, but instead used for something useful, I searched for a project to run when Rosetta is down.
Among the many projects available, I found that Einstein@Home is the more interesting for me, because the search for gravitational waves is a big challenge and also because Albert Einstein is my idol since ever.

I think that distributed computing is a powerful tool for research projects.
For those not already involved, I recommend to crunch Rosetta@Home also, because it is aimed to fight deadly diseases like cancer, malaria and many others.
