Profile: Elrod

Your personal background.
I am a senior consultant for a technology consulting firm in the Indianapolis area. Our company serves the Indianapolis metro, eastern Ohio, and DC greater area. We specialize in infrastructure such as network and platforms; managed services, project management; and application development. We serve commercial; state/local government; and the federal government including all branches of the military and NASA.

My areas of expertise include Microsoft platforms; storage and disaster recovery; thin-client technologies; security; business process; and networking.

I really enjoy what I do and believe consulting was a great move after years of corporate IT and IT management. The thing I enjoy most about my job and about technology is taking something raw like a server, a network, etc. and turning into something efficient and useful for business. The art of creation is a lot of fun for me.

I have a wife, two kids, a dog, and, of course, the all American mortgage. Besides computer technology I am a military historian by education and enjoy space sciences, sci-fi/action movies (big surprise there), and being creative with graphics and video editing.

Your opinions about Einstein@Home
I think in general the project is quite good and well thought out. I actually had several clients ask me about my "screen saver", and upon explaining it to them, they have installed the software. So something must be right with Einstein@Home!
