Your personal background.
I'm a computer programmer from Portland, OR. In my professional life, I focus on vertically marketed web-based applications written in Java. In my personal life, I focus primarily on my family but love a good football or hockey game. I've been a life long skier, but haven't tore up a good mountain side in years (once my kids are old enough, that'll change!). I also enjoy a good snow storm or mid-winter rain storm (more rain then snow in Portland, but I'm a former Coloradoan).

I do enjoy tinkering with computers in my off time. My current system is a AMD Quad Core Phenom 9850 occasionally overclocked to 2.8 GHz (most of the time it remains at its factory speed of 2.5 GHz). I run 90% idle CPU time for the various BOINC projects I participate in, including Einstein@home.

I find the universe and all its enormity and complexity very enlightening and fascinating. I participate in any of the astronomical projects I can. Though I've been participating in SETI@home longer, I've been participating in Einstein@home for a year now.
