Your personal background.
I was a high school student who loved--and excelled at--both science and literature. I studied them both at the most advanced levels available, and then, when the time came to pick a university course, I had to make some decisions. Stupidly, I chose law as my longer term academic degree.

It didn't take long practising law for me to realise that was a pretty silly choice. I still loved science and literature, but law was as boring as batshit. So I left law and became a creative writer, which is the way I've earned my brownie points for the last twenty years or so. But oh, the allure of physics! It's never left me. So I read about it voraciously, regret my choices and find that doing something like this helps the cravings.

My big wish: around fifteen lifetimes--each remembered, of course--so I can fulfill all my dreams. Another is neuroscience....
