| Your personal background. |
Hello.
I am a member of The Spaceport Team, and have been a member there since the sight started almost 1 year ago. I am an Anthropology Major currently studying in Halifax, Nova Scotia @ Dalhousie University (though will soon be a transfer student to SMU).
When I am not studying I work as a painter and amateur artist. I enjoy reading, writing, studying, photography, listening to music and enjoying time with friends and family. I have had an obsession with all things ancient and astronomical since before I can remember. I specialize in Ancient Near East History and Archaeology. My favourite constellation is Orion and it appears not only in the sky, but on my upper back.
I like to make card houses, while sitting on the floor surrounded by lit candles and listening to Khaled. I can almost always be found with a cup of tea in hand (black), and silver bangles on my wrists and ankles. When I travel I prefer going to out of the way places, and try to avoid "touristy" sports and resorts.
I am planning (still as of now, at least... I haven't yet change my mind and I don't plan too - but people don't plan those things usually) to head for a carrer in archaeological or historical journalism. Some of my photographs can be viewed at http://arae.deviantart.com and http://spaces.msn.com/members/alisonwhalen.
I usually end these things with a quote. So here it is... one that I have taken deeply to heart and helps me most everyday;
"It does not matter what religion one is, what matters it that one has faith. It does not matter what deity or essence that faith is in. For it is only when we have lost faith in our fellow man, that we are truly lost." |
| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
I think the combining of efforts to pursue greater knowledge on any subject (including science) is the best way to get things done. As one of the most populous species on Earth and the most technologically advanced, together we have limitless potenital. I have just recently joined Einstein@Home, and feel that my contribution - however small, is worthwhile.
I look forward to seeing the great results that this project is capable of. |
