| Your personal background. |
I live in Tallinn, Estonia, I'm 29 years of age and work as a computer service engineer. There are two fields that have always interested me: computers and science. It's refreshing that now there is a chance for "little" people like myself to participate in real science and donate their computer time to good use.
My other interests are vintage cars, motorcycles (and moto-meetings), astronomy in general, science fiction (both books, movies AND writing - if I'd only have time for all this...), aviation, paranormal activities - ghosts, hauntings and things like that. |
| Your opinions about Einstein@Home |
Being a long-time SETI@Home participant (since 2000) I have run the client on all possible computers. It began with a simple AMD K5 133MHz machine with 32Mb RAM. Then came the computers in office. So I'm an old fan of distributed computing.
But some time ago I began looking for more "serious" science projects (no offence SETI!). Hunting aliens for almost five years without any positive results (well as far as I know; maybe the CIA knows more, aye?) just didn't make my day anymore. At first I discovered Climate Prediction but since all my processors at that time were below 1GHz and considering the long processing time of a workunit I saw no point in installing it on more than one CPU - the fastest. Next there came Einstein@Home and I have stuck with it ever since. |
