Profile: Daniel P McDonald

Your personal background.
I am a physics student at California State University Northridge. I am presently a member of a solar physics research group on campus. Our current work focuses on the application of Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to solar surface and coronal magnetic fields to identify and interpret the fundamental modes of these observed fields. Ultimately this work is designed to gain understanding of the underlying solar dynamo.

After graduation in June 2005 I will enter a graduate Mechanical Engineering program. My interest for graduate study is robotics, with primary interest in fully autonomous robotic vehicles. This broad interest includes vision systems, controls and dynamics.
