Profile: Srinivasan

Your personal background.
I am a Professor of Physics. Retired in the year 1994 after teaching Physics for 37 years. The last 35 years were in The American College, Madurai, India. During the last 20 of the 35 years I was the Head of one or other of the two the Physics Departments in that College.

To keep me occupied in my retired life I am working as a consultant in the instruments maintenance department of Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. I repair instruments and teach others how to repair instruments used in eye hospitals. I run short-term (six week) training courses on instruments maintenance. In the last 39 courses I have run I have trained 233 technicians including 62 from 19 developing countries Belize in the far west to Papua New Guinea in the far east for us India. I have also run courses in Nigeria, Vietnam and Kenya.

I was in University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, USA as a Fulbright Scholar for little more than a year and earned a Masters degree in Physics besides another Masters degree in Physics from Annamalai University I had earned earlier in India.

I am married. Living with my wife in Madurai. I have two children (a girl and a boy) and four grand children two through each one of them.
