Problem:
several hours after installing BOINC/Einstein my system shutdown and the einstein work files were corrupted resulting in several hours of lost work. further runs were stopped by shutdowns but restarted with no loss of work.

Diagnosis:
installed a temperature monitor (from the mainboard manufacturer) which showed that running einstein was causing a 5°C increase in the CPU. this was clearly visible as the temperature decreased when the program was stopped. the higher temperature was just enough to cause the mainboard sensor to shutdown the system to protect the CPU, as it should.

Solution:
opening the case to allow more air to circulate, reduced the CPU temperature by exactly 5°C ! (another solution would be to install a better cooling fan).

einstein now runs without problems on my system, all i need now is some credit.
