Dr. – Welcome! Haven’t been here to long myself, but a pretty good group of guys to be associated with, and a worthwhile endeavor to participate in.

Welcome, Doc. Haven't been

Welcome, Doc. Haven't been here that long either, and I've just been crunching quietly in the background. As Tom Awtry says, a worthwhile endeavour to participate in.

I'm not new to distributed computing, having participated in SETI Classic almost from the very beginning. But it was time for a change. I also felt that SETI needed to update its strategy for finding ET. I very much doubt we'll find them using radio or even laser.

Waiting for PlanetQuest to come online or offer beta tests.

Welcome Doc....you will find

Welcome Doc....you will find that E@H is a very reliable and well managed project. The Admins are very helpful and actually answer questions! That has been the hallmark of this project from the very beginning. It has certainly set the gold standard for BOINC projects. I see you are using an AMD CPU so if you are into joining 'teams' we 'AMD USERS' would certainly appreciate the support. Live long and process, Cheers...Rog. (P.S. I don't know if N.Tesla ever cooked hot dogs with his HV coils. Maybe it's a first! :)

That's great,Doc. All the best with your studies. You are obviously a very bright young man and I have no doubts that given the chance you will have a real PHD in the future. Good luck....Cheers, Rog.

Hello from me as well.

I've got a small problem. Here at home I have two computers both of which
are available for anything apart from idle time. This one is working just
fine and I am pleased with it. Yet my newer one makes a loud grinding noise
with most distributed programmes, so I only use this machine now for any
distributed computing that I want to run.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do with the other one? It has 256 Mbyte of
Ram @ 2Ghz plus an 80GByte hard drive.
