I'm wondering to what extent LIGO's Livingston Observatory has been affected by hurricane Katrina. Can anyone comment on this?

PS: In asking this I do not mean to be callous. I am just curious to know if the facility is unaffected.

Hurricane Katrina

As far as we know the facility hasn't been affected, but the detector has been shut down. Currently there's no one out there. The people normally working there have been evacuated and are presumably still rather caring for their families and property.

Update (from an eMail I just got):

"The LLO crew is pleased to report no serious damage from Katrina. Site power is back on
and the vacuum system is in good shape.

The internet connection was severed by falling trees, so there's no point trying to
connect to LLO computers or sending email to LLO personnel just yet."
