So, I joined this team called Satellites and would like to say hello to the other team members... I recently started using BOINC, at a loss to the SETI@home project, I would prefer to have all three of my systems here to be doing this classic seti thing, but alas, like all good things, someone had to mess it up and now they have problems and want us all to use BOINC or something, I dunno, but, seeing as how I better get with the times and quit the belly aching,... so....

Team Satellites, Where are you all located? I read Canada and the main reason for joining this team is because I read where some members are also ham radio users and seeing as how that is one of my newer hobbies, maybe you have a few tricks to get better reception!!

ok, I am running two dell pc's, one a 2.4 and the other a 3 ghz... so fast processing times and well the new 3ghz tower is pretty much idle most of time, hence why I wanted to run the seti and again, why I am here, the next best data crunching thing!

ok thanks for reading and letting me waste your time

Brian,

Welcome to the Satellites team... Almost all of us are Ham Radio operators located in Southern Ontario centered at Toronto, but scattered from Hamilton to Tweed and Coboconk. About half are actually part of the Satellites club which meets in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto. The rest of us know each other through one club or another. If you go to the Satellites' stats, you'll find a web site URL to link to and you'll find pictures to go with most of the call signs mentioned. You'll also find we have our own forum but its not very busy...

As for better reception, there are several rules of thumb...
- antenna as large as your real estate allows
- antenna as high as you can make it
- as far away from man made noise as you can (of course this conflicts with the computer requirement of being as close to a high speed internet provider as possible).
