I have just created a home network with a wireless router and 128 bit encryption. My WIRED computer is running E@H. For the last 2 days I have been unable to connect to the server. Is this the result of the encryption, or has the server been experiencing serious database problems for the last couple of days? Any thoughts or answers would be greatly appreciated !

BOINC and wireless router security

Being on the wired-side of your mixed media network, it would have nothing to do with the wireless encyption - unless the encyption is on the WAN (read 'broadband') interface of the router, which I highly doubt.

The Project has been experiencing problems for weeks.
Hang in there, it'll clear up soon.

But to make sure, you might read thru some of the gazillion other posts about the current issues to see if the symptoms match yours. If your symptoms are different then post the error messages and someone can assist you.

Like Christian mentions, I

Like Christian mentions, I would guess it has more to do with the current Einstein server issues than anything. I have encryption setup on a wireless router too. I have never had any troubles with the wired connection although occasionally (after power outages), the wireless can't connect at all until I power down the router and restart it. The wired connection has always just worked without any special configuration.

If you are still convinced it might be a router issue, perhaps you have some more observations which might help with diagnosis. Is it safe to assume regular web surfing works okay?

Regular web surfing works fine. I've come to the conclusion that the problem lies with the server. I get itntermittent connections to it, but most often, the message is : "HTTP server error", "cannot open database", or "project is down". Currently, I have one wu in progress, but cannot connect to the database to get another. Guess I'll just have to be patient, until they clear up their hardware issues.

Is everythng working OK now? Your computer seems to be getting a steady supply of work and credit.
