Yep, got that. :-)

Ah. Yes. Now therein lies some ambiguity, alas. Some skulls do contain any amount of that .... more than a bit. :-)

Quite. You would need to throttle up a tad.

I'll go for H.G. Wells. He went to the Moon ! Honest. I read about it in a book he wrote. I liked the Mooncows best.

@Anniet : I have long taken the view that vacuum cleaners are right up near the apex of malignant engineering practices. I place them just below nuclear weapons and slightly above handheld remote control units for home entertainment devices. James Dyson is a fascist.

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

I'll go for Tom Hanks, or was it Jim Lovell?

You are leaning in the correct broad direction.

Hanks is less incorrect than Lovell.

So do I. I just get lazy about changing them. Maybe I will soon. I've been meaning to drop the N9JFE from my name on all the boards anyway.

Yes - we plug them in - turn them on - gather in one place, only a third to a half of the dust they're supposed to pick up - just so we can get ALL of THAT stuck to one arm when emptying it (apart from a mysterious circle on the floor of course). What on earth were we thinking when we bought into the concept!

Hi everyone I missed Hi-ing :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Yep, Annie and I spent a lovely afternoon together in London today. Neither of us had been to one before, but being adventurous we gave it a go. It had a little conveyor belt that ran past every seating position, with all the cold dishes for sale placed on it. If one took your fancy as it passed you just took it. If you wanted a hot dish from the menu you pressed a button where you sat and the waitress would come up and take your order for that, or a beer or wine.

Each dish was colour coded so the staff knew what to charge you when you had finished, quite a clever system. One particular item that caught our eye was what looked like marzipan sweets, but which turned out to be something called Anko Mochi, which is apparently also known as Daifuku 大ç¦. Quite unusual and not quite what we were expecting!

We declared world domination, as one does on those occasions, but Annie had forgotten to bring one of her many cats with her, which rather thwarted the attempted impression of Blofeld. Notwithstanding over 3 hours of very pleasant company, and as always, a real pleasure :-)

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
