Hmmmmm .... well my mother in law is rather heavily booked for the next few months, but I'll inquire & let you know.

@Annie RE: During

@Annie

During the... we're-highly-bored-now... I-know-let's-prankcall-999-from-THIS-public-callbox part of the school summer holidays - the address BT sends ALL the emergency services to, is mine. Every time. Doesn't matter how many times I remind them that my phone number is the one they bill me for and is COMPLETELY different, and that that phone is ... weirdly ... inside my house and oddity of oddities, where they installed it, and not hanging forlornly in a phonebooth that never works - apart for prank 999 calls

This is easy to solve! BT has the address of every phone box listed against the phone number. Every fire station has a copy of this. The reason being that sometimes in a panic people give garbled descriptions of the location of the fire. Once the fire brigade know where the call originated from, they can be pretty sure that it will be fairly close to the actual fire.

What I bet has happened here is that the location of this particular box has been listed as "OUTSIDE Number XYZ, Whatever Street. XYZ being you, that is why they come banging on your door. Write to BT and the local fire station commander and ask them to amend the records with a better address for the box. i.e. at the junction of two roads, or opposite Fred Bloggs Ltd.

To finally wrap it up I'm sure that during term time the brigade would be willing to pop down to the local schools with an off duty engine, and explain the perils of prank calls and what could happen. They do in South London. BT can also fit a CCTV camera in historically "troublesome" places.

@Mike - You're a brave man, and Les Dawson would be proud you! Cue Dawson Joke

"Pothole? Sheer luxury! We lived on the bottom of a lake ....

Leek/leak ? The road surface

Leek/leak ? The road surface has degraded because of a broken pipe beneath ?

You might be surprised where they can put those little cameras now, we had someone pulling the fire alarm boxes in an apartment complex once, never any smoke or anything wrong, but we made a big show of providing free smoke detectors to every apartment and even installed them too. The key was that the ones near the fire alarm boxes in the hallways had cameras in them, which we didn't say anything about at the time. 2 days later the cameras caught one kid pulling 5 boxes in 3 different buildings, all in the middle of the night, he went to jail for over a year!! The buildings had no more problems after that, of course we told the residents how we caught the kid which I think helped the most. The 'kid' was in his late teens and charged and convicted as an adult, which he was. He was not working and living with his mom while doing drugs etc.

The guys still use that story when telling all the kids during Fire Prevention Week at the schools during their presentations to help explain the consequences of 'just being silly' sometimes.

Indeed. So I tell a blonde joke to my wife, who is blonde, and then when I regain consciousness after the third blow to the head she says : "Which of us has had the blonde moment now honey ?" :-):-)

Cheers, Mike.

---------> Blonde joke

---------> Blonde joke <---------

This blonde was stopped by the cops for doing 60mph in a 30mph limit. Ok says the cop, what's the mad rush here?

Well she replies, my petrol gauge shows nearly empty, and I want to get home before I run out!
