Down Time's quaint stream
Without an oar
We are enforced to sail
Our Port a secret
Our Perchance a Gale
What Skipper would
Incur the Risk
What Buccaneer would ride
Without a surety from the Wind
Or schedule of the Tide -

For Ariane. Chin up. ;-)

Emily Dickinson & other poetry.

The Outer-from the Inner
Derives its Magnitude-
'Tis Duke, or Dwarf, according
As is the Central Mood-

The fine-unvarying Axis
That regulates the Wheel-
Though Spokes-spin-more conspicuous
And fling a dust-the while.

The Inner paints the Outer-
The Brush without the Hand-
Its Picture publishes-precise-
As is the inner Brand-

On fine-Arterial Canvas-
A Cheek-perchance a Brow-
The Star's whole Secret-in the Lake-
Eyes were not meant to know.

Dear Madame Hev and Es99, I

Dear Madame Hev and Es99, I enjoyed the lovely poems you posted , here to express my gratitude i copy one of my poems(written in 1998), inspired by a 10 pounds stamp , on which was figured the mythic Queen Britannia.I was informed that a popular song is sung for her called "Rule Britannia".This poem is in french (i was in my french mood) :

LA REINE (BRITANNIA)

Assise sur son trone,
Appuyee a son bouclier,
L'assistance la prone
Sans vouloir oublier
Qu'elle detient le pouvoir.

Son casque de celte
Qui protege sa beaute,
Et sa taille svelte,
Et ses pieds bottes,
Revelent une guerriere.

Le trident a la main,
Elle commande la nation,
Et par son regard de saint,
Elle suscite l'approbation;
Elle a pour ami un lion .

Ainsi le peuple prudemment ,
Dissipant sa douce melancholia ,
Chante unanimement :
Rule Britannia !

Always from Emily Dickinson

Always from Emily Dickinson :

HOW HAPPY IS THE LITTLE STONE

How happy is the little stone
That rambles in the road alone,
And doesn't care about careers,
And exigencies never fears ;
Whose coat of elemental brown
A passing universe put on;
And independent as the sun,
Associates or glows alone,
Fulfilling absolute decree
In casual simplicity.

Ariane, I thought your poem

Ariane, I thought your poem was lovely, and it was great to be able to understand it in French. Could you put some more of your poetry here please?

Another Emily Dickinson:-

There is a strength in proving that it can be borne
Although it tear-
What are the sinews of such cordage for
Except to bear
The ship might be of satin had it not to fight-
To walk on seas requires cedar Feet

Dear Hev , thank you for your kindness ,i love you like my own mother .

This poem of Emily is wonderful and it reminded me a poem i wrote few years ago in english(but surely full of faults of all sort) called Admiral Nelson.I was in a very crucial situation because of the illness of my mother, so to give courage to myself, i used Admiral Nelson's character as an example, i will post it later.

With a lot of love

Ariane, I loved your poem,

Ariane, I loved your poem, and look forward to seeing your Nelson one.

Another one from Emily until then. :-)

These are the Nights that Beetles love -
From Eminence remote
Drives ponderous perpendicular
His figure intimate
The terror of the Children
The merriment of men
Depositing his Thunder
He hoists abroad again -
A Bomb upon the Ceiling
Is an improving thing -
It keeps the nerves progressive
Conjecture flourishing --
Too dear the Summer evening
Without discreet alarm -
Supplied by Entomology
With its remaining charm -

Thank you Ariane, I tried my best. I think I just want to concentrate on the more creative things in life so another poem:

On my volcano grows the Grass
A meditative spot-
An acre for a Bird to choose
Would be the General thought-

How red the Fire rocks below-
How insecure the sod
Did I disclose
Would populate with awe my solitude.

Thank you dear Hev and Ess99

Thank you dear Hev and Ess99 for your lovely poems, here just some thought :

Many years ago,
Somewhere, in a corner,
I saw three tiny chimpanzees,
Gesticulating three fancy poses.

Then,I laughed tenderly,
Now I remember them utterly,
And I laugh bitterly....

Hello Ariane, I know that you are not here at the moment but I hope that you are still reading this:

Between My Country-and the Others-
There is a Sea-
But Flowers-negotiate between us-
As Ministry.

I am feeling really sad....

On this long storm the

On this long storm the rainbow rose,
On this late morn the sun;
The clouds, like listless elephants,
Horizons straggled down.

The birds rose smiling in their nests,
The gales indeed were done;
Alas! how heedless were the eyes
On whom the summer shone!

The quiet nonchalance of death
No daybreak can bestir,
The slow archangel's syllables
Must awaken her.
