Oh yes! I forgot all about it. Literally, all about it... *awkward frown*

Let me see if I can reconstruct what it is you're looking for

Quote:

definition: mysterious adhesive that converts the leaves of one fruited deciduous tree into another when pasted on stuff. Safe for emergency use on skin.

One of the f's is already in the right place. Nothing else is though.

Oh... I clicked post instead of preview...

*sour frown* they shouldn't both start with a p should they. Was bound to happen... okay ... well... come back later please people... there's not a lot to see here until I'm finished, which I'm not yet. Thank you.

well I forgot to tell you you had a group of four correct letters as well as the formerly mentioned F when I said this:

Yes. It does look like a lie from this angle doesn't it. Rest assured it wasn't. It's just on closer inspection it does not actually have any truth in it whatsoever, but does when referring to my jumbled version. I got muddled by the post/preview issue, and the two have nothing to do with one another. To make up for any confusion, let me add more. *Beam* I will addendum the definition. In part, it refers to the alleged activities/properties of ancient apple trees.

What your second offering does do, is increase the number of F's in the right place, whilst decreasing your group of four to one...regression I believe is the term I'm looking for. Yes! :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

The first has two of the same thing correct. The second has three, all different. [edit]None of the three is in the same place as either of the two.[/edit]

Analysis: I picked the wrong F the first time. Conclusion: F-F-something

Further anaylsis: --------G--- is the only letter in common between guesses 1 and 2. Conclusion: -----NDOG--- or ------DOGL-- or -------OGLU- or (most likely) --------GLUE

Putting them together: F-F----GLUE. The first - is not E.

Guess 3: FIFGRONDGLUE

Kinda detracts from the conclusion that GLUE was right, unless you meant and forgot neglected to say that it's a string in the wrong place.

Thrrree right, plus an inverted pair adjacent to one of the thrrree.

Okay, I see what I did wrong. I got confused between the Fs being 3rd and 4th in the original and 4th and 5th in my first guess. But do you really think Adam and Eve had fig frond glue in the garden?

[edit]

"Thrrree" is not a clue. I just felt like rolling Rs after listening to Stephen Fry narrate Hitchhiker's last week. You should listen to his rendition of the Vogon poem.

[edit 2]

I do hope your eyes are good at picking out pale colors that barely contrast with other pale colors. I think you missed another uncolored hint a few days back.

Mastagoruecria - the regret

Mastagoruecria - the regret that comes from committing ones mouth to eating something in polite company, that it decides it either doesn't like, or can't properly contain without some of it protruding

Margareastucio - (pronounced mar garree uh stuck ee oh) style of architecture where the corners and edges of ceilings are adorned with ornate curly bits of wood and stuff

Margaticaesour - little known Roman emperor who attempted to establish a new Rome on the site of modern day Margate, but failed really quite quickly.

Mascartuaioger - little drawing of a demon on old maps

*throw sharp glance at David* You may have noticed a preponderance of M's at the beginning. I've decided I like it there.

:)

You seem to also like having an A after the M. Good instinct.

In regard only to these four guesses:

1. two
2. six, all together that's a big fat hint if ever there was one
3. nine, not all together
4. five, two pairs and a single

There are four letters that are not correct in any of these guesses.

When you figure it out, you may think you want a large, fruity drink, but the actual definition has nothing to do with such. Then you'll really want one.

As I have now eliminated all

As I have now eliminated all possible words in the dictionary, including Magratecarious and Magtareracious, David ... *shrug eyes despondently onto windowledge* I'm left with only Margaretacious*, which I am now going to insist is the word you jumbled up what feels like several incarnations ago when I was a mollusc - and not what I am now - a vaguely chicken-flavoured primordial soup.

You may argue this point with me if you wish, but I suspect my response will be something along the lines of: I don't care what word you think you jumbled... Margaretacious* is all you're getting *flick eyes off windowledge and onto pavement outside*

Yes *hurl rest of anniet after them*

I hope that's okaaay...?

* To tenaciously insist on clinging to office when you're not wanted because you've got so out of touch on power you've gone stark raving mad, only to get replaced by something even more depraved by its attraction to splayed madam salmonellas on prime ministerial desks.

...having said all that, and looking at what you just said, it's not impossible the word is Margaritaceous I suppose...

interesting...

*hurl eyes back into thread*

...no squiggly line

*rejoin eyes*

meaning: having a satiny iridescence like that of pearl or mother-of-pearl : pearly

oh I like it! Thank you for jumbling it! :)

Yeeezzzzzz, very good. With the sentence I resized, that is.

Now then...

You've solved my word and I've (I think) solved your word. Who's going next? I suggest Mike.
