I'd like to report issue:

No "Validation inconclusive" filter on Tasks page, therefore it is not possible to filter or at least see amount of such tasks

I only see the following filters:

All (162)
In progress (122)
Pending (24)
Valid (1)
Invalid (0)
Error (0)
Reset

If you hadn't noticed, there are more than a few projects that will be missing one or more 'filters' for project's tasks.

Below are the 7 projects that I am currently involved with, and as you can see they will have different filters.

Einstein

All (2145)

Amicable Numbers

All (2260)

GPUGrid

State: All (588) · In progress (2) · Pending (0) · Valid (586) · Invalid (0) · Error (0)

Milkyway

State: All (6017) · In progress (680) · Validation pending (1) · Validation inconclusive (923) · Valid (4111) · Invalid (6) · Error (296)

Numberfields

State: All (4872) · In progress (492) · Validation pending (0) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (4380) · Invalid (0) · Error (0)

Asteroids

State: All (5399) · In progress (50) · Validation pending (404) · Validation inconclusive (2) · Valid (4913) · Invalid (0) · Error (30)

Universe

State: All (0) · In progress (0) · Validation pending (0) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (0) · Invalid (0) · Error (0)

Einstein and Amicable Numbers are missing "Validation inconclusive".

GPUGrid is missing "Validation inconclusive" and "Reset".

The other 4 are missing "Reset".

Does this mean that they can only have at the most "6" filters?  I don't think so.  It is just what the project developers want to have.

Just my opinion, hope this helps.

Hi George, thank you for

Hi George, thank you for confirmation and review!

Primegrid has 7 filters:

State: All 47 | In progress 1 | Pending 3 | Inconclusive | Valid 43 | Aborted | Invalid | Error

I think "All" and "reset" are generally equal filters

I think developers just forgot to add this filter when they implemented inconclusive status for a task ... And no one complained yet ..

Would be great if developers add this filter

This has been requested/reported previously over the years but nothing has come of such discussion.

That's actually not true but it is a bit cumbersome to do.

If you pull up the 'All' link to the results for a host, the actual link has the following format:-

https://einsteinathome.org/host/nnnnnn/tasks/A/0

where "nnnnnn" is the host ID and "A" is a digit representing different 'categories', eg.:-

  • 0 = All
  • 1 = In Progress
  • 2 = Pending
  • 3 = Inconclusive
  • 4 = Valid
  • 5 = Invalid
  • 6 = Error

The trailing '0' (zero) seems to indicate "all in this category" which displays a list of up to 20 tasks with a series of page numbers along the bottom of the display if there are more than 20 tasks in total.  If you have lots of tasks and you click the '2' at the bottom of the display to see the very next page, the URL in your browser (assuming you are viewing the 'All' category) changes to:-

https://einsteinathome.org/host/nnnnnn/tasks/0/0?page=1

So to view any inconclusive results on any page, just edit the category in the URL from a zero to a 3 so that the URL becomes:-

https://einsteinathome.org/host/nnnnnn/tasks/3/0?page=1

and the display will show any inconclusive results on that page with a line of page numbers along the bottom of the display which allows you to look for them on a page by page basis.  I don't know of a way to get them aggregated on to a single page.  It seems you need to progress from page to page of your full list of results.

As I mentioned, it's cumbersome if you have lots of results to peruse.

Cheers,
Gary.

Hi, i

Hi, i tried

https://einsteinathome.org/host/13183092/tasks/3/0?page=1

and i see nothing

I understand this is a small issue comparing to others but would be great to fix eventually especially if people already reported before

Thanks!

Are you sure you have inconclusives?

If you are, try page=2 or page=3 ....  until they show up.

I tested on a machine doing BRP7 which gets about 10-15% inconclusive results - ie. there is usually an inconclusive or two on any given page.  I retried on a different machine with a more modern GPU that doesn't get that many and if I try a page=n value where there are none, then nothing (including the row of page numbers along the bottom of the display) is shown.  Incrementing the page= setting in the URL will eventually find an inconclusive task (if it exists) and when that happens, the display will show a row of clickable page numbers along the bottom as well.

I imagine all this is part of the BOINC server code and Einstein uses an old heavily modified version in order to implement their special needs - eg. Locality Scheduling, etc.  Maybe it's not that easy (or they don't have time) to study the old code and work out how to implement this feature.  Probably there are too many other issues that they regard as more important.

Cheers,
Gary.

When you open a task list,

When you open a task list, either for a user or a single host, the top line reads:

All (2182)
In progress (102)
Pending (321)
Valid (1514)
Invalid (183)
Error (0)

If you do the same thing on a project running newer BOINC code, the top line reads:

State: All (2371) · In progress (152) · Validation pending (0) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (2207) · Invalid (0) · Error (12)

That's where the difference arises. Both of those are pastes "as plain text", so there's clearly a formatting difference too.

There's a thread somewhere in the Wish List (probably several years ago) where I asked for the same change.

It's strange but when i now

It's strange but when i now go to https://einsteinathome.org/account/tasks , i dont see numbers in filters

but the pending filter https://einsteinathome.org/account/tasks/pending now shows both " Completed, validation inconclusive " and " Completed, waiting for validation " tasks

and

The hosts stats https://einsteinathome.org/host/13183092/tasks/0/0

Still show old filters with broken "Pending"

Found my "wish list"

Found my "wish list" thread:

Add inconclusive to task list filter/count

Back in 2019! Gary, you liked it at the time - and Oliver said the team would look into it.

I haven't changed my opinion

I haven't changed my opinion - just become a bit more philosophical about what appear to be simple things that get promised but then tend to have some difficulty rising to the top of the to-do list.  I do understand the reasons so this reply is not a criticism.

At the moment, I'm far more interested in wondering why the "next week" comment about the return of O3AS hasn't yet happened.  As I write this, "next week" is rapidly disappearing ;-).

Cheers,
Gary.
