OK, this is a little annoying; wait for validation, other user aborts everything

Noticed one of these today on WU

http://einsteinathome.org/workunit/73871120

So, I looked at the other users computer and saw

http://einsteinathome.org/host/2334354

which lead to his tasks; there are pages, and pages, and pages aborted at 0.0 secs completion

There is 2.5 pages that look like that, followed by 7 WUs he didn't abort, then the remainder of that page is aborted. There's another 4 aborted; and at least from the downloads I had been seeing a disproportionate number of 160 credit WUs (the shorter ones) which got credited.

Is this one of those people who had been cherry picking the WUs which got mentioned in the forums sometime back, this AF>France>Dom-Rom>Polynesie-Francaise] Boris61? If that's what is going on, I'd like to express my displeasure as the ever growing pendings that sort of cherry picking of WUs causes other users, can be the difference between getting credited in time for

http://www.setigermany.de/boinc_pentathlon/25_en_Disciplines.html

or not. And though the pendings can be a natural part of looking for a quorum; running into users who sit there and actively hand abort almost all their units (how far back does this person's history of this go? only an admin could investigate) isn't exactly.

Taking a look on this host, from the pattern it's clearly he's taking part in the Pentathlon, but probably forgot to set "no new work" on Einstein@home, so downloaded a bunch of work on the 6. May. All this work except 7 has been aborted. Also, probably the work he couldn't finish by the end of the Einstein-part of the Pentathlon he downloaded the 29. April has also been aborted.

In "normal" races any work not finished by the race-end can just be crunched afterwards, and isn't neccessary to abort. But, an unfortunate disadvantage to the multi-project-part of the Pentathlon is these effects, that users can't finish the excess work after the race, since by this time the work will have timed-out by hitting the deadline.

Also, people don't do these

Also, people don't do these tasks i.e. Global Correlations S5 Engineering. Take too long for too little credit. So they get aborted and peeps just let the binary pulsar search run. More credits, less time.

There are quite some people

There are quite some people unable to write a proper xml-file, but they abort GW-workunits. If this happens right after receiving it isn't that bad, but most times the scheduler is resending them after a 5 to 10 days break. :(
Some people even abort there GW-wus after 5 days and it takes even longer until the tasks are send out again.

It would be a very nice idea, if resent work would have a shorter lifetime, e.g. 7 days.
