Topic 195989

I only use boinc client on one computer. On inspection of my account stats I found that einstein@home has me down for 7082 computers. This number is typed correctly. Most seem to be from September 2011 looking at the last connect date. They all have the same information stored but only one has any task credits, ID: 4187127. Can anyone help please.

multiple computers registered

Hi!

Interesting:-). It seems that this PC spawned a new PC identity with every new contact to the server, once every few seconds.

This looks like a BOINC bug to me (not sure wether on client or server side), but this needs to be investigated.

Thanks for the report, I'll ask the admins to remove the ghost hosts so that your host overview page will be readable again.

Is there anything special in your installation of BOINC? Using some third party tools?

Hello, This a standard

Hello,

This a standard install, ver 6.10.58, with a different drive selected for the Boinc data. I've no third party add-ons. I did join LHC@home the day before the first false entry. Looking at a copy of the computer id list, the spawn dates are 3rd, 21st, 22nd, 23rd Sept. I use this computer every day with boinc tasks active.
Windows application event logs dont show anything.
I have been using Visual Studio 2008 recently but although the date/times are close they dont exactly match. The VS projects have no connection with Boinc.
Regards

I see that the ghost hosts

I see that the ghost hosts were removed but the WUs that they had downloaded were not aborted. I have over 150 completed WUs there keith was my wingman, now I have to wait until the 17th when the report date is before someone else get them. No big thing, but I could use the 75,000 credits during this Team Challenge going on right now.

I have no clue what happened

I have no clue what happened there, but currently keith's account doesn't show any computers. Keith, if you're still there, what's the id of the computer you're still using? Do you have another account set up by now?

It is still be 4187127. I haven't changed or added any accounts. If I look at my tasks I am still receiving credits for 4187127 :-

That's really weird! Computer

That's really weird! Computer 4187127 points to account 512660 (keith atherton), but that same account indeed shows no computers at all!

Gruß,
Gundolf

That's what puzzled me too. But it's probably (only) a display problem - the DB query result exceeds the PHP memory limit, and instead of showing an error the pages just displays an empty result.

Should be fixed. All 30778

Should be fixed. All 30778 computers of user #512660 with zero credit were 'merged' into host #4187127.

Edit: I still don't understand why this happened.
